Lately I have been yearning for some hip-hop mixed with a rock-n-roll edge, thankfully The Knux has satisfied my craving.  Rah Almillio and Krispy Kream the sibling duo from N’awlins are an oddity in the hip-hop world, as they play a variety of instruments and seem more like a band than a persona. The Knux have a wide range of musical influences, from Rza to The Dust Brothers…this is certainly evident on their debut album Remind Me In Three Days. By including techno beats and rock roots into a hip-hop soup, The Knux definitely stands out among their peers, however, I find their music more fulfilling in small bites.  When I listened to Remind Me In Three Days in its entirety the music started to sound a little washed out and it lost its potency.  Overall, it’s nice to see some innovation swirling around the hip-hop/rap genre and I offer a golf-clap to The Knux.
