tpobphThe Pains of Being Pure at Heart is a noise-pop band akin to Times New Viking, varying in one crucial element: it sounds good, part of which could be due to a heavy shot of shoegaze sound.  I have nothing against the noise-pop genre as a whole, I’ve just never came across any bands that could keep my attention until now.  Where so many have gone awry in forging out a good overall sound in the genre The Pains of Being Pure at Heart pretty much nailed it.

Their self titled debut is a force to be reckoned with in both shoegaze and noise-pop. Prior to their full length, the band released a few singles and an EP in 2007-2008 (most of the tracks do appear on the LP). If you like anything noise-pop or shoegaze, The Pains of Being Pure at Heart may just suit your fancy.
