P Is For Panda Records just released Damion Suomi’s, self-titled debut album, and it’s a little bit country and a little bit folk.

Damion Suomi’s self-titled debut was produced by Matt Malpass (Relient K, Copeland, Lydia) and recorded at his Marigolds + Monsters studio in Atlanta, GA. Featuring 10 tracks, the album has Andy Lee (ex-Cartel, Right Away Great Captain!) contributing his musical talents on drums, guitar and pedal steel along with the warm guest vocals of Brittany Painter (of Alabama-based band The Bridges) on One More Time. Damion explains that, “These songs were birthed from pubs, drinks, and relationships, and the result is an album that is rooted in Irish culture and bar-drunk poetry.”

The track, ‘What A Wonderful Game’ kind of shocked me the first time I heard it, in an odd kind of way.  “I think you’re pretty and you find me charming”… spouts out in a folkish tone behind a gentle guitar, then out of nowhere, “I’m so damn horny, and we’re just drunk enough, let’s fuck each other up.” Definitely not the norm, I’ll give him that.
