john-vandersliceSinger-songwriter John Vanderslice first appeared on the music scene as a member of the band, Mk Ultra. This San Francisco-based band issued three albums throughout the 90’s during an on/off career,  ‘Mk Ultra’, ‘Original Motion Picture Soundtrack’ and ‘The Dream Is Over’. Vanderslice also started Tiny Telephone, a small recording studio, in 1997. Tiny Telephone gained a reputation as an affordable recording outlet for San Francisco’s indie rock community and it also produced Vanderslice’s solo debut, ‘Mass Suicide Occult Figurines’ in 2000.

After his debut album, Vanderslice went on to issue two LPs in two years, ‘Time Travel Is Lonely’ and ‘Life and Death of an American Fourtracker’. As he experimented with character-driven themes, he recorded the ‘Cellar Door’ in 2004 and ‘Pixel Revolt’ in 2005, and in July 2007 Barsuk Records released ‘Emerald City’. Now John Vanderslice is getting ready to release his forthcoming album ‘Romanian Names’ on may 19th via Dead Oceans Records.
