I hate to admit this but I currently have So You Think You Can Dance on in the background, whilst I troll the internet for some fabulous new tunes… and I just saw something that could change the face of popular music as we know it. In the past, the show has featured some of the most talented artists around (wink, wink) and tonight, omg you guys, Kristinia DeBarge sang her hit single, ‘Goodbye’.  I really am in a state of confusion because I am not sure if what I saw, actually happened.  Did this young popple really just lip-sync without even trying to hide it??? I mean really, I had to rewind the show to hear if Cat Deeley said it was a high-school dance group.  Do you not have these people perform live for you before you put them on national tv? And how dare this Kristinia DeBarge girl steal Britney’s thunder, if anyone has been working their way up to half-heartedly dancing on a stage to studio recorded music without any attempt to hide the truth, it’s Miss Spears.  And to add insult to injury, Kristinia DeBarge is not even a good dancer.  How do you go on a dance program, and be a fake musician who can’t even dance?

How lazy can you pop music executive marketing people be…you basically gave up hiding the fact that the music industry is not even about music. That’s just like the Jolly Green Giant admitting that he paints his skin just to sell green beans, while in fact he is really purple like eggplant, but he knows as far as veggies go, green beans are eaten more frequently, so he can sell more.  People love their Green Bean Casserole.

I don’t really even want to get into the song she walked around the stage to, but it mirrors the stadium favorite, Na Na Hey Hey and sounds like a Rihanna track… or maybe it’s Ashanti (head scratch).

But on the other hand, maybe this means the pretending to sing routine has come to an end…sink or swim people. I am not even sure she had a fake mic in her ear, it looks kind of like a pink earring.  I have been to countless shows, seen countless shitty bands, but at least there is real live singing and instrument playing going on. I just hate that people will actually purchase this record, while other talented, original musicians remain mostly unheard of.

AMEN sister. Well said. That bitch pissed me off last night. As well as the judges choice to kick off Max. They always state that they base their choices on the solos, and last night Max’s solo blew away Koponos. They blamed Max for being restricted by his ballroom, but all the other dancers are restricted by their styles as well. Boo to them for their choice, and their not following their own rules.
