Bonobo is Simon Green, a British producer, composer, musician and DJ. At a young age Green moved to Brighton where he released his debut album ‘Animal Magic’ via Tru Thoughts Record in 2000. This album was completely self-produced, mostly self-instrumented and turned Bonobo into an acclaimed down-tempo musician. A few years later Bonobo signed with Ninja Tune Records and released the album ‘Dial ‘M’ For Monkey’ in 2003.
His most recent album ‘Days To Come’ was released in 2006, followed by a live DVD titled ‘Live At Koko’, which was released a couple of months ago.
I am always on the prowl for beautifully ambient music, so I was extremely stoked with my recent introduction to Bonobo. I have not made my way through his entire body of music but ‘Animal Magic’ has become well acquainted with my headphones…especially while at work (it adds a level of calmness).
