Division-DayI am not quite sure what to make of Division Day’s latest single, ‘Chalk Lines’, which is from their forthcoming sophomore album, ‘Visitation’. From what I’ve read, the band decided to take a darker approach to their music, straying from their previous, pop soaked album, Beartrap Island (2007).
“They came out the other side with Visitation, an album which finds the band steering confidently into darker territory, marrying synthetic and organic textures in songs about death, transformation, and the devil.”

While I don’t necessarily hear the darkness, I can certainly read between the “Chalk Lines”…sorry I couldn’t pass that up, forgive the horrible pun. Also, I am not sure if it’s just me, but I sense a hint of their new label mates, Silversun Pickups, on this track.

‘Visitation’ was self-funded by Division Day while they were in transition between record labels and received finishing touches from producer Justin Meldal-Johnsen (NIN/Beck/Gnarls Barkley). The album is out on August 18th via Dangerbird records.
