Eagle & Talon members, Kim (vocals/guitar) and Alice (drums/Casio), have described themselves as the founders of “leotard rock.” I honestly haven’t the slightest idea what that means, but I could have sworn Bananarama claimed that title (head-scratch).
On their first full-length album “Thracian”, the band sounds sort of like a campy version of early Sleater-Kinney…yet very much like Eagle & Talon. The album is full of fun start/stop interactions, catchy guitar hooks, and oddball lyrics like “They’ll trade your fingers for a double latte” and “Drink a bottle of hand sanitizer/It won’t let you down.”
Eagle & Talon’s official site allows you to download their album with the pay-what-you-want model made popular by Radiohead…but, $15 gets you a cool loot bag with a physical copy of “Thracian”, personal scribblings, and a surprise.
