It has certainly been awhile, but here’s a new track from Rah Digga produced by Nottz.  “Warning Shots” is a welcome change of pace from the hip-hop floating around radio waves these days.  Wonder Years anyone?

Pill

I admittedly am not an expert when it comes to hip-hop or rap, but I can say, the “hip-hop” I hear these days while scrolling through clunky FM radio stations, just aint’ my thang. And while I attend more rock than rap shows here in Atlanta, I have been hearing about a young up-and-comer who goes by the name of Pill.

I just heard the track, “Coastin”, from Pill’s freshly released free mixtape, ‘4075: The Refill’, and it made me hanker for that laid-back blunted sound from the mid-90’s that seems to have sadly faded.  You can get the mixtape here.

busdriverBusdriver, whose birth name is Regan Farquhar, is an underground MC hailing from Los Angeles. He is known for his rapid-fire, jazzy, free-association style of hip-hop.

Busdriver released his first of many albums, ‘Memoirs of the Elephant Man’, in 2001, followed by ‘This Machine Kills Fashion Tips’ and ‘Temporary Forever’ in 2002. And in 2003 Busdriver collaborated with fellow underground musicians Radioinactive and Daedelus to create the LP, ‘The Weather’.

In 2005, Farquhar also became a “Corn Ganggster”, rapping with Nick Diamonds and J’aime Tambeur…this offshoot project of The Unicorns goes by the moniker, Th’ Corn Gangg.

Busdriver recently released his latest album ‘Jhelli Beam’, via Epitaph Records and had a little help from LA producers like, Elvin “Nobody” Estella, Daedelus, Free the Robots, and Nosaj Thing. I haven’t listen to the album in its entirety, just a few tracks but after doing some blog scavenging it looks as if ‘Jhelli Beam’ has gotten mixed reviews.
