PrincetonOne could easily mistake the members of Princeton for a high school A/V club. They are young, wear funky 80’s sweaters, sport thick glasses, and claim to have named their debut album, ‘Cocoon Of Love’, after a long-defunct children’s show. It would not be surprising at all if Vampire Weekend fans started gravitating towards this band, as they are creatures from similar eggs. Princeton’s pop melodies are noticeably well-structured, and songs like “Calypso Gold” and “Stunner Shades in Heaven” have a strong island vibe. Twin brothers Jesse & Matt Kivel switch off between singing abstract lyrics that yearn for love and adventure, but there voices are so similar, it’s hard to tell them apart. Their album, ‘Cocoon Of Love’, was released last month via Kanine Records.

Princeton has been opening for Ra Ra Riot and plan on touring throughout the rest of 2009.
