State Radio announce new tour dates and new album

In the midst of an extensive touring schedule, State Radio spent time in their home state of Massachusetts with producer Dom Monks to record their third studio album. Their forthcoming album, ‘Let It Go’, is set for a September 29th release date via Ruff Shod records. ‘Let It Go’ was recorded live to tape, with the intention of combining the trio’s penchant for storytelling with their live setting rawness.

State Radio has been a staple in my music diet ever since I was introduced to their album, ‘Year of The Crow’ a couple years back. I adore the substance in their messages and the sound it comes wrapped in.

Although the band definitely has a signature sound, due in part to Chadwick’s distinctive voice, they remain versatile while loosely roaming around the borders of rock, reggae and ska. State Radio has already given away a couple of tracks (‘Evolution’ and ‘Knights Of Bostonia’) from their upcoming album ‘Let It Go’, and the track ‘Knights of Bostonia’ surprised me because it’s a bit more garage punk than their previous tunes.

**STATE RADIO ANNOUNCE 2009 TOUR**

LAST SHOW OF 2008 TO TAKE PLACE IN DC ON DECEMBER 26th in CELEBRATION OF PRESIDENT ELECT BARACK OBAMA

STATE RADIO IS IN THE STUDIO WORKING ON THEIR THIRD ALBUM

Punk rock reggae trio STATE RADIO have announced an early 2009 US tour that kicks off on January 14 in Tucson, AZ and wraps on February 21 in Providence, RI. The socio-politically conscious band has been on the road since early 2008 supporting their sophomore studio album Year Of The Crow (Ruff Shod/February 08), which Metro NY described as “a biting collection of 13 tracks taking aim at, among other things, U.S. detention facilities in Guantanamo Bay and policies in South America, not to mention Halliburton and the current state of affairs in Darfur.”

State Radio will play their last show of the year on December 26 at the 9:30 Club in Washington, DC, and are calling it an early “welcome to the neighborhood” party for President Elect Barack Obama.

State Radio – Year Of The Crow

Don’t let the first two tracks off the State Radio’s latest album, Year Of The Crow, deter you from going further into the album, because overall it’s a tenacious rash of music. State Radio is strapped with a rage against the machine attitude and funky sounds that will surely pollute the air around you. Year Of The Crow is not only a rebel shout to all those disturbed with the current condition of politics but it is sincere and painted with the kind of rock & roll that is sadly lacking these days.

There is such a dynamite mixture of musical attributions on Year Of The Crow, from one song to the next State Radio steers clear of the mundane and repetitious. The blend of rock, punk and reggae is perfectly paralleled with Stokes’ winsome voice and earnest ideals of political protest. State Radio is creating the type of music that should be broadcast over the airwaves, however, it’s thought provoking music, so the big media corps will probably throw it in a trash bin and light it on fire then spin a little song about a stripper. Even with the Damn The Man theme pulsating through the album, you can certainly still groove to the songs because State Radio knows how to jam. Year Of The Crow is really a beautiful and strong album in every way, from the instrumental inclusions, the lyrics, the vibe, the production, the vocals…it’s a scorcher.
