Even with an expeditious drum beat and sharp guitar riffs backing him, McCauley took a calm vocal route, and the outcome is a notably well balanced track titled, “Kilometer”.

Now comprised of three members, the band’s new output embraces their love of African polyrhythm, noisy punk and dance labels, like DFA and Modular.  Working with three sets of hands, the band uses their guitar-drums-bass setup to create complexity out of minimal post-punk jams.  They’ve grown out of their old indie rock shell and shifted to something weirder, funkier and harder to pinpoint.

Tempo No Tempo’s 2009 calendar includes dates at Noise Pop, SXSW and shows with Women (Jagjaguwar) and Chad VanGaalen (Sub Pop)…plus the release of their debut LP (this summer).
