The Most Serene Republic is a seven-piece Canadian indie rock outfit formed in Ontario. The band released their debut album ‘Underwater Cinematographer’ in 2005 on the Arts & Crafts label. They later released a tour EP ‘Phages’ in 2006 and the LP ‘Population’ in 2007, which was later re-released this year. The Most Serene Republic’s third full-length album, ‘…And The Ever Expanding Universe’ is set for a July 14th release on Arts & Crafts.
The band’s name came from the sobriquet of formerly independent Venice under the Doges, which was regarded as “The Most Serene Republic of Venice.”
